Incredible Inside Look At The Secret Service

On July 5, 1865, the United states Secret Service was established as part of the US Treasury to suppress counterfeit currency at a time when one third of all currency in circulation was counterfeit. The legislation to create the agency was on Lincoln’s desk the night of his assassination but it wasn’t until after the assassination of Presidnet McKinley in 1901 that Congress requested the Secret Service provide presidential protection.
