New York Farmer Dancing to Sia

Have you ever seen a farmer dance his heart out to modern hip hop? No? Well watch the video below and change all of that.

Jay Lavery is a farmer in Sharon Springs, New York. His farm, which was established in 2011, is called the Permaculture Inn. They began raising goats on the farm in 2014, and acquired sheep in 2016. The animals are free to roam a huge 35 acre plot, being protected always by some giant Great Pyrenees. The farm also houses Heritage turkeys and produces delicious maple syrup. There is also a 100 year old apple orchard on the property which is slowly being brought back to life.

The man himself experienced some life changing experiences 15 years ago when he had to undergo serious back surgeries that left him with constant pain. He has found that dancing, yoga, and meditation have been his saviors from the constant pain as an alternative to debilitating medication. Jay also wasn’t always a farmer! In an interview with the Huffington Post, he admitted that he lived in Manhattan for 26 years working as a flight attendant and a standup comedian before going into the field of psychology. A few years ago he returned to upstate New York and never left, feeling that the farm country was calling him.

His video has been viewed more than 7 million times and his story of recovery and finding yourself is making its way into the home of millions of people around the world.
