Currently, approximately 5.4 million people die each year due to tobacco-related illnesses—a figure expected to increase to more than 8 million a year by 2030. Unless the current trend is changed, the vast majority of these deaths are projected to occur in the developing world.

As a result of this 2012 campaign, more than 200,000 Americans had quit smoking immediately following the three-month campaign, of which researchers estimated that more than 100,000 will likely quit smoking permanently.
This is really an eye opener of the damage we do do ourselves when smoking.
