There Are Now About Half As Many Trees As There Were At The Dawn Of Civilization.

Trees are the longest living organisms on the planet and one of the earth’s greatest natural resources. They keep our air supply clean, reduce noise pollution, improve water quality, help prevent erosion, provide food and building materials, create shade, and help make our landscapes look beautiful.

An international collaboration of scientists has just completed the ultimate green census—by calculating that the planet is home to 3.04 trillion trees.

What is sad, humans are removing trees at the rate of 15 billion a year. There are now about half as many trees as there were at the dawn of civilization.
