These Architects Are Crowdfunding To Build Real “Lord Of The Rings” City

Crowdfunding has made the impossible possible, and these hard-core “Lord of the Rings” fans aspire to do just that, by raising $2.82 billion USD to build a full sized replica of the city Minas Tirith. The project is being planned by a self-professed “ambitious team of architects and structural engineers,” and headed by Jonathan Wilson. If funded, work will begin in Northern England in 2016, and be completed by 2023.

“We all share a love of Tolkien’s work, and a desire to challenge the common perception of community and architecture,” states the project’s Indiegogo page. “We believe that, in realising Minas Tirith, we can create not only the most remarkable tourist attraction on the planet, but also a wonderfully unique place to live and work.”
