India: Destinations Less Traveled

India is a rich in culture, beautiful and interesting touristics destination. Travel agencies offer lots of possibilities for safe and pleasant stay.

But what if you go further to places less traveled? Will you find yourself comfortable at all? Will your perception of India change?

Did you know that only 46.9% of the 246.6 million households have lavatories while 49.8% defecate in the open? The remaining 3.2% use public toilets.

The distribution of wealth in India is so uneven that millions have access to cutting-edge technology and consumer goods while larger number of poor lack access to even basic facilities.

About 27 million children are born each year in India. But nearly 2 million of them do not live to the age of five. The majority of children are enrolled in school, but up to half don’t attend regularly. Many are pressured to work and earn money for their families . After five years of classes, fewer than 60% can read a short story or do simple arithmetic. Also, over 50% of kids have faced some kind of sexual abuse, and over 20% of them severe abuse.

At least 78 million people are homeless.
