Underground City in Australia Where Citizens Can Escape The Heat

Coober Pedy is renowned for its below-ground residences, called “dugouts”, which are built in this fashion due to the scorching daytime heat. The name “Coober Pedy” comes from the local Aboriginal term kupa-piti, which means “white man’s hole”.


There are living quarters, places to hang out. Bars… The town resembles the vaults from Fallout. But unlike the Fallout vaults, these are not only real, but also easily accessible and functional. Filled with stores… and fun activities for (now) cool people.
