May’s Lane Art Project is a world famous outdoor gallery space where artists work on a monthly rotation. May Lane started as a platform on which street artists can freely paint and they wouldn’t be chased, so they would spend a bit more time executing their masterpieces.
May Lane is not the only place in Australia known for it’s amazing street art. Melbourne, the capital of Victoria and the second largest city in Australia, has gained international notoriety for its diverse range of street art and associated subcultures. It was one of, perhaps the first, major city to embrace stencil art, leading to the naming of Melbourne as the “Stencil Graffiti Capital” and increasing public awareness of the concept of street art.
