Extraordinary Data Center inside of a former bunker (11 pictures)
We have seen many cool data-centers and offices before, but Bahnhof’s takes the cake. Built at a depth of 30m (98ft) below the surface of the White Mountains in Stockholm, Sweden.
Because of the facility being buried under the mountain, secured by a 40-centimeter thick door, and only reachable by an entrance tunnel, the data center is capable of withstanding a hydrogen bomb.
Pionen bunker features fountains, greenhouses, simulated daylight and a huge salt water fish tank. Its data center has two backup power generators (two submarine engines).
In 2010 Wikileaks used Pionen’s collocation services to store their servers. The server we see here is one of the two original Wikileaks servers (with all the known and unknown data still remaining on them).
