What are Dreams?

For thousands of years humans have been trying to figure out what is it that dreams represent. We’re going to present a few of these theories for you to consider.

Here we go.

Dreams are instructions and the origins of premonition.

Sigmund Freud

Sigmund Freud

From Descartes to Freud to Abraham Lincoln, a great number of stories have been told where the dreamer saw solutions to problems that they have not been able to resolve, or have been instructed to take a certain action that would eventually change their life.

Freud himself was pushed to write The Interpretation of Dreams after a vivid dream he had the night before his father’s funeral.

Dreams are your brain organizing your memories.

Dream Imagery

Neuro-scientists are now discovering that the images in our dreams are in fact a by-product of the memory-making process. When memories bind with other memories – some very bizarre images and scenarios can play out in one’s dream.

Dreams are expressions of your unconscious mind.

The Uncounscious Mind

Carl Jung, a student and later rival of Freud said that dreams enable you to become aware of things that you would not otherwise realize. Basically that dreams can be interpreted as signs and symbols that can provide a deeper understanding of our waking life.
