Pope Francis was not only named Time Magazine‘s Person of the Year nine months after he became Pope, but he was also declared Person of the Year by The Advocate – the oldest gay rights magazine in the United States – for representing “a stark change in [anti-gay] rhetoric from his two predecessors.”
