Brand New Benjamin: The $100 Bill Touts Added Security Features

With Government being shut down, good ol’ Benjamin Franklin decided to have some work done. The Federal Reserve will begin circulating a new $100 bill Tuesday after a two-and-a-half-year delay.

The Fed is technically fiscally independent, so it doesn’t need any approval from congress thus unaffected by the shutdown. The original date for release was February, 2011, but had some delays after the Federal Reserve noticed some some security flaws that caused the note to crease during printing. The AP made a visit to the Fed to get a first glimpse at the Benjamins. Is it me or does Benjamin look like he’s smirking a bit more these days?
